REV. PHIL HANNER JOINS ANGLICAN CHURCH OF THE REDEEMER
AS NEW RECTOR ON JULY 8TH
The Rev. Philip Cole Hanner will be celebrating his first service as the new Rector of Anglican Church of the Redeemer in Chattanooga on July 8th. Fr. Hanner comes to Redeemer from St. John’s Anglican Church in Southampton, Pennsylvania, where he has served for the past five years in several roles including Associate Rector.
“We are tremendously pleased to announce Fr. Phil Hanner as our Rector.” said Rob Healy, senior Warden of Redeemer’s Vestry. “Fr. Hanner brings to Chattanooga a record of growing communities focused in the areas of family life, discipleship, small groups, and outreach.”
Fr. Hanner is 36 years old, married to Rebecca, and together they are parents of two sons, Cole, age 4 and Bram, age 2. They will be relocating from the Philadelphia, PA area in early July.
When told of the Vestry’s decision to issue a Call for them to come to Redeemer, Fr. Hanner responded with, “This is exactly what we have hoped for and what Rebecca and I have been praying about for a long time. It will truly be a privilege to serve this worshipful and loving community. Praise God.”
In his new role as Rector on July 8th, Fr. Hanner will be the celebrant at both the 8:30AM and 10:30AM services. The community is invited to attend and childcare and nursery services are provided at the 10:30AM service.
Fr. Hanner earned a Master of Divinity from Westminster Theological seminary in Glenside, PA and is a graduate of Virginia Tech where he received a B.S. in Wildlife Biology.
